I spent all of Friday night working on this highlight video and birthday card for his birthday which was on January 26th… so I ended up not getting any sleep at all. And when I don’t get sleep, I go CRAZY. I’m hyper normally, but I get SUPER hyper when I have no sleep. (I guess cause I’m running on adrenaline? Not quite sure why.) So I was really crazy at FanFest yesterday. lol. OK anyway… well I have a whole bunch of things to say, but I’m going to leave some stuff out cause I like to write/talk a lot and you’ll probably get bored reading this, if you’re not already. :)
Through Twitter (I LOVE TWITTER) I found out Andres Torres was signing on the 3rd base side at 10 AM, so I ran over there as fast as I could. His little tent thing was on the field, so I ran out onto the field and stood right next to the tent where fans were exiting after getting autographs. Jonathan Sanchez was closest to me, then Eugenio Velez, then Andres, then Sergio Romo. I couldn’t see them that well because fans kept walking in front of the players to get autographs, obviously. But I saw Andres and called out his name and waved, and he turned and saw me, and smiled and waved back. :) Then I yelled, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” I kept standing there, waiting, because I wanted to give him his card. Once there was another gap in fans, he looked at me, pointed at his head, pointed at me, and mouthed, “I remember you!” And I noticed he had a big smile on his face for like a minute after while he was signing. :) It was like 10:30 at that point, and I knew they were going to switch autograph booths before 11, so I just hung out there for the next 20 minutes. He would periodically look over at me and smile/wave, he is so sweet! :) So when they finally got up to move to their next booth, he kind of started coming toward me but the security guards pushed him away. :( I showed him the back of my shirt, which was his player shirt, and said “Look, Andres!! I bought your shirt!! But the only size they had left was a large!!” (The shirt looks like a dress on me haha.) He said, “Oh, thank you, thank you so much!” Then I was like “Andres!! I have a birthday card for you!!” and I tried to give it to him, but the security guard took it. :( He saw it, though, and said, “Thank you! Hey, it was good to see you again! I’ll talk to you later!” Then I said, “Oh! And I made a movie for you too in there!” And he thanked me again (I’m pretty sure “thank you” is his favorite word <3) and then he went away. :(
Right before FanFest ended, one of my friends I met through Twitter texted me and said “Andres is on the 1st base line! HURRY!” I was up on the 2nd level by left field -_- but I ran down there as fast as I could and he was up in the right field McCovey Cove Loft. I was in the stands a little below and behind him, but at one point he turned around and saw me! He smiled and waved and said, “Thank you for the—” and motioned like a big square :) so I said, “You’re welcome! :D” But when he left, he went out the back way so I never got to talk to him again. :( I wanted to ask him all about his offseason and playing in the Puerto Rico League and winning the PR Championship! Oh well, I guess I’ll have to wait til Spring Training. :/ I’m so glad I at least got to give him his card, though. :) I hope he likes the movie! :D (I’m sure he’ll pretend to, even if he doesn’t lol)
